Being mindful when advertising bikes online

Residents,

We have received numerous reports recently of thefts. Offenders are on Facebook Market Place and looking for identifying markers for locations of bikes, such as motor bikes/pit bikes/surrons that have been advertised for sale.

Offenders are targeting bikes such as motor bikes, pit bikes and E-bikes that are advertised for sale online, particularly Face Book Market Place.

Please choose your photographs to advertise carefully.

Don’t identify your exact location.

Don’t include any street signs, landmarks, well known monuments etc in your photographs.

Be careful when having conversations online, in a public forum, with potential buyers. Use direct messaging instead.

Please report anything suspicious to the Police via LiveChat on the GMP website or call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.
